Eugene Golub continues to play a visionary role in the firm’s success – even after six decades in the business. As the founder of this family-owned, privately-held real estate company, Gene built a strong foundation for the firm, with a career spanning 60 years, multiple real estate cycles and two continents. Gene's considerable influence and excellent reputation in the international financial and business arena led the company’s achievement of a key milestone in 1989, establishing development activities in Central and Eastern Europe and Russia. Just prior to the return of market-driven economies to the region, the company became the first U.S. real estate firm to undertake development projects there, and continues its role as the region’s preeminent developer. In recognition of his long and distinguished career, Gene has been honored with the Central & Eastern European Lifetime Achievement Award; the Eurobuild Lifetime Achievement Award, and the real estate industry’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the Urban Land Institute.

Michael Newman has served as Golub & Company’s chief executive since 1995, during which time the company has experienced significant growth in the U.S. and Central and Eastern Europe. As the firm enters its seventh decade as a leading developer and owner of commercial and residential properties, Michael continues to guide the multi-generational family business as it focuses on Chicago-area markets along with new, growth-oriented markets including Denver and the Southeast U.S. A principled and creative executive, he has played a leadership role in numerous development, acquisition and financing transactions during his more than 40 years in the real estate business. Known for his tireless commitment to ethical and partnership-focused business practices, he personally initiates and oversees the firm’s relationships with its many institutional and private capital partners, lenders and joint venture partners. He is on the board of the Chicago Architecture Center and serves as a sustaining sponsor at The Real Estate Center at DePaul University. Michael joined the company in 1984 and serves as the managing broker for Golub & Company LLC.
Lee Golub leads the Golub & Company U.S. division, spearheading the company’s successful pursuit of high-profile development opportunities across the country, stimulating rapid growth in multiple property sectors and geographical markets. Lee provides leadership to the firm’s development group responsible for ensuring the quality of ground-up construction projects, as well as to the asset management and marketing executives responsible for enhancing the sustained value of every property. He serves on the boards of Chicago Gateway Green, Lookingglass Theatre, the Magnificent Mile Association and the Latin School of Chicago and has acted as co-chair of the City of Hope REACH (Real Estate Action Committee) social for many years. Lee is also a member of the Architecture and Design Committee at the Art Institute of Chicago. He joined the company in 1987 and serves as the managing broker for Golub & Company of Illinois LLC.

Paula Harris leads Golub & Company’s Asset and Portfolio Management team in the U.S. A hands-on leader with extraordinary attention to detail, Paula brings value-added opportunities to fruition, driving strong investment returns. Paula is the force behind many property-level and corporate initiatives and programs that become standard operating procedures, achieving some of the highest benchmarks in the industry, as evidenced when she was selected to receive the 2017 CREW Chicago Industry Leadership Achievement Award. Committed to sustaining the company’s reputation by empowering individuals to reach their highest potential, she oversees company-wide engagement programs that infuse the company culture with the motto, “We’re a family business that treats the business like a family.” Paula joined the company in 1975 and also serves as the managing broker for Golub Realty Services LLC.

Michael Goldman, an expert in innovative financial structures for underwriting commercial real estate transactions, has extensive experience in the debt and equity capital markets, and other forms of structured finance. Since joining Golub & Company, he has consistently orchestrated complex, successful development and acquisition transactions that have positioned the firm as an aggressive, entrepreneurial acquirer of commercial and multi-family properties throughout the U.S. With a proven track record in sourcing and analyzing investment opportunities, Michael’s lender relationships are built on a foundation of mutual, long-term respect. Having earned both an MBA and a BA from the University of Michigan, Michael has worked in the commercial real estate investment and related industries for more than 30 years. Michael is a licensed real estate broker with the State of Illinois. He joined Golub & Company in 1994.

Bruce Armstrong plays a leadership role in Golub’s development division. A registered architect, Bruce is responsible for overseeing all phases of major design and construction programs for Golub buildings in the U.S. He also contributes to the predevelopment evaluation of prospective development and acquisition opportunities. His ground-up construction and property renovation experience includes a variety of major high-rise mixed-use, office, hotel/convention center, high-rise residential, retail and governmental projects. Bruce earned MA and BS degrees in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, and his experience includes roles with Development Resources, Inc. and as a structural engineer with Abatangelo-Hason, Ltd. A member of the Chicago, Illinois State, and national chapters of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Bruce joined Golub & Company in 1996.

Michael Glazier brings a global perspective to the firm’s development work. With extensive experience in transit-oriented development in the U.S. and abroad, Michael is responsible for overseeing development programs for Golub buildings in the U.S. His experience includes serving as managing director of Golub’s joint venture company with GE Capital in Central and Eastern Europe from 1992 to 2002, where he oversaw the company’s development business operations. He also founded and served as managing principal at Sertus Capital Partners, LLC, where he managed several transit-oriented developments. Michael earned his BA at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA in international business at the American University in Washington, DC. An international member of the Urban Land Institute, Michael re-joined Golub & Company in 2013.

Steve Sise oversees the operations of properties within Golub’s commercial and residential portfolio with an intense focus on financial and operating performance. He ensures that the property management teams collaborate with leasing, acquisitions, development and accounting groups, as well as with Golub’s capital partners, to create and execute successful business plans. Prior to joining Golub, Steve was a member of Colliers Bennett & Kahnweiler’s office and retail investment sales team, where he completed more than $250 million in transactions. With additional experience in acquisition, disposition and development underwriting for Duke Realty as well as national portfolio property and asset management for Grubb & Ellis, Steve leverages his diverse background and keen sense of real estate to further the strong performance of the company’s portfolio. He earned a BA degree from John Carroll University, and is a Board Member for BOMA Chicago as well as the Chicagoland Apartment Association. Steve is a licensed real estate broker with the State of Illinois. He joined Golub & Company in 2008.

Thomas Gatti is responsible for all property and corporate accounting, tax and treasury functions for the company and its affiliates. He holds executive responsibility for the accounting function, and participates in closing transactions and reviews all financial and tax implications of real estate acquisitions and sales, and protects the financial interests of the company, its investors, partners and lenders. Prior to Golub, Tom served as the chief financial officer of several real estate companies including Stone Financial Group, Strategic Realty Advisors, Inc., and Stone-Levy, LLC. His extensive experience in the real estate industry also includes feasibility analyses, financial and tax reporting, SEC compliance, financing and budgeting. Tom is a graduate of DePaul University, a certified public accountant and a licensed real estate broker with the State of Illinois. He joined Golub & Company in 2012.

Adam Short is responsible for evaluating new development and acquisitions opportunities. A key player in the continued growth of the company, Adam focuses on sourcing, underwriting and executing due diligence of acquisitions, as well as procuring debt and equity. Additionally, he has a critical role in overseeing the firm’s portfolio of existing assets, where he is a liaison for institutional capital partners, monitoring the execution of strategic business plans. Prior to joining Golub, Adam worked on Allstate Investments debt origination team. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Iowa and an MBA from DePaul University and is active in ULI and DePaul’s Real Estate Alumni Association. Adam is a licensed real estate broker with the State of Illinois. He joined Golub & Company in 2006.

Collin McKenna is charged with sourcing, analyzing and financing development and acquisition opportunities for Golub & Company. Bringing a diversified real estate background to the firm, Collin’s previous experience includes roles with Related Midwest and Prudential Mortgage Capital Company. His active professional memberships include the Urban Land Institute, Chicago Real Estate Private Equity Network, National and Chicago Association of Realtors and the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association. He graduated with distinction from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BBA in finance, investment and banking. Collin joined Golub & Company in 2012.
Senior Vice President, Human Resources
Meredith Lewis manages all aspects of the human resources function for the Company’s US employee base including employee relations, staffing, compensation, benefits, legal compliance and performance management. She prides herself as having the ability to offer practical approaches to human resources while maintaining the entrepreneurial culture that makes Golub an enjoyable place to work. She brings more than 12 years of HR experience ranging from Michigan’s tumultuous automotive industry to consultancy for small and medium-sized businesses. Meredith holds a Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) from Western Michigan University and is an active member of the Human Resources Management Association of Chicago (HRMAC) and Society of HR Management (SHRM). Meredith holds a Senior Professional Human Resources Certification (SPHR) and is a SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). She joined Golub & Company in 2007.
Senior Vice President, Leasing
Sandy Macaluso is responsible for the leasing and marketing of commercial properties in the Golub & Company downtown Chicago portfolio. In addition, she provides third-party property leasing services. Sandy has more than 15 years of experience in agency leasing and tenant representation, negotiating more than 500 office and retail transactions in major U.S. markets. In a previous role, she helped reposition the Chicago Board of Trade building to draw a more diverse tenant base following a major renovation. Sandy earned a BA degree from Illinois State University and is a licensed real estate broker with the State of Illinois. She joined Golub & Company in 2018.
Vice President, Acquisitions
Dave Smith is charged with sourcing, underwriting and procuring financing for development and acquisition opportunities in the Western United States. Based in the company’s Denver office, Dave brings significant commercial real estate experience to the firm, including five years at Trammel Crow Company managing the development of office, residential, industrial, mixed-use and large-land developments as Vice President of Development and Investment. He has had previous roles in acquisitions and development with Lone Star Funds, CityInterests and CIM Group. Dave serves on the NAIOP Colorado Board of Directors and on the Office Workplace & Industrial Product Council for ULI Colorado. He is also on the Board of Directors of the non-profit Sharing Connexion and is a member of Equity Capital Groupe, a Denver young professional organization. He holds a JD-MBA from Northwestern University School of Law and Kellogg School of Management and a BSBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dave joined Golub in May 2019.

Joel Sandridge is responsible for overseeing the execution of Golub’s domestic development projects with a focus on design, construction, and overall project management. He has extensive experience in the architecture and construction industries across numerous market sectors. Joel joined the firm from M. A. Mortenson Company where he was a Project Development Executive. He also spent several years as an Architect at Solomon Cordwell Buenz, where he led mixed-use, multifamily, student housing, and student life projects. His diverse background also includes early-stage commercial real estate development and business development. Joel holds Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies degrees from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Joel joined Golub & Company in 2020.

Steve Degodny oversees the leasing and marketing of commercial properties in the Golub & Company suburban Chicago portfolio. In addition, Steve provides tenant representation and third-party property leasing services. With previous experience in multiple Chicago-area submarkets, Steve has worked in similar professional roles for two other prominent owner/operators, and as a tenant representative. He has an excellent track record in achieving above-market occupancy levels, and in meeting the occupancy requirements of prominent corporate tenants. Steve earned a BA degree from the University of Wisconsin and is a licensed real estate broker with the State of Illinois. He joined Golub & Company in 2005.
Vice President, Leasing
Erica Rogers joined Golub & Company in 2021 and currently serves as vice president within the firm’s commercial leasing team. She is primarily focused on the leasing and marketing of the 2.5 million-square-foot downtown Chicago office portfolio. Prior to Golub, Erica spent four years as an agency leasing representative for JLL’s suburban and downtown office portfolio. During this time, she leased prominent buildings in the O’Hare and North suburban submarkets including One Northbrook Place, The Reserve at Deer Park and O’Hare Plaza in addition to downtown Chicago assets including 1 N. Wacker Drive and 222 S. Riverside Plaza. Between 1997 and 2017, Ms. Rogers held similar roles with Avison Young and CBRE, and counts Aon Center among the more noteworthy properties she leased during that time. Erica holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Kansas. She is a current member of the Chicago Office Leasing Brokers Association (COLBA) and holds her broker’s license in the state of Illinois.

Aimee Val joined Golub and Company in 2021 and currently oversees corporate marketing and communications in addition to the firm’s residential and office real estate portfolios. With more than 25 years of real estate marketing and communications experience, Aimee is a proven leader and passionate builder and protector of brands. Prior to Golub and Company, Aimee led marketing for a global platform of service lines and practice groups at Cushman & Wakefield responsible for more than $1.5B in revenue. Aimee received her Master of Science degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Roosevelt University.
